Safety Guidelines

Stay secure on every job, from first message to final payment.

The three rules of safe work

Talk here

Keep every conversation inside the app.

Pay here

Only use Tradesman checkout to move money.

Prove it here

Document scope with before/after photos.

For Clients

Communicate on the platform

Keep all conversations inside Tradesman. Never move to personal email, phone, or social media before work begins.

Pay through Tradesman

Only pay via the in-app checkout once work is completed and confirmed. Never wire money or pay off-platform.

Check the profile & reviews

Review the tradesperson's portfolio, endorsements, and verification status before accepting a quote.

Document the job

Use before/after photos in Active Work to keep a clear record of the agreed scope and completed results.

Meet safely first

For in-person jobs, meet in a public area or have someone present for the first site visit.

For Tradespeople

Protect your personal info

Never share your home address, banking details, or ID numbers in chat. Only share what's needed to complete the job.

Get paid through Tradesman

Insist on payment via the in-app flow so your earnings are tracked and disputes can be resolved.

Record your work

Upload before and after photos to protect yourself if a client questions the scope or quality.

Keep communication on-platform

Moving conversations off-platform removes your payment protection and record trail.

Trust your instincts

If a job or client feels unsafe or suspicious, decline the quote and report it to support.

Red flags to watch for

  • Requests to pay or be paid outside the Tradesman checkout
  • Pressure to start work before agreeing on price and scope
  • Refusal to use before/after photo documentation
  • Asking for upfront 'deposits' via wire, gift cards, or crypto
  • Vague job descriptions or constantly changing requirements
  • Unwillingness to share a profile, portfolio, or reviews

If something goes wrong

Report a problem

If a job feels unsafe or a payment is off, stop and report it through Tradesman support right away.

Keep your records

Screenshots, messages, and before/after photos are your proof if a dispute arises.

Safe work starts with you

Follow these guidelines on every job to protect yourself and your community.
